There are many plants and trees growing in the garden and greenhouses of the Hortus. Some species are very rare or notable because of their size or they have played a role in the history of the garden and some parts of the garden cannot be missed.
Ikebana is an ancient Japanese art form, using flowers and plants to express the feelings evoked by the beauty of nature. The Hortus, with its long history of contact with Japan is the place to have an exhibition to celebrate 55 years of the Dutch Ikebana Society. This exhibition will be held from 9 to 11 October 2015 in the historical Orangery.
